Why Al-Majlis was founded

Shia families all over the world want to hold a majlis or a rawda at home, and Islamic centers, husayniyyas and mosques need a speaker or a reciter for their own religious programs. Finding the right speaker and arranging a date, though, is rarely simple. Al-Majlis was founded to answer exactly that need.

Working online, families and Islamic centers can request a speaker or a reciter suited to their gathering and hold the majalis of Ahl al-Bayt anywhere in the world.

The mission of Al-Majlis

Al-Majlis exists to make the majalis of Ahl al-Bayt easier to hold, and more widely held, across the world. Our aim is that distance, the absence of a suitable speaker, or the difficulty of arranging one should never be what keeps a gathering from taking place.

Al-Majlis matches the speaker or reciter to the gathering itself — its kind, its subject and the language of the people attending — and brings that speaker into the majlis online.

From rawdas at home and family gatherings to the programs of Islamic centers, husayniyyas and mosques, Al-Majlis stands with the host along the whole path of holding a majlis of Ahl al-Bayt.

How your majlis is held

Every majlis on Al-Majlis is held online, over video.

Once the request is in and a speaker is confirmed, the host receives a private Google Meet link. At the agreed time the host and the guests join from a phone, a laptop or a computer, and the speaker joins the gathering online.

Connect that phone or laptop to a television, a monitor or a projector and everyone in the room can see and hear the speaker.

The vision of Al-Majlis

Al-Majlis is not only a place to file a request. It is an attempt to build a global network of families, Islamic centers, speakers and reciters.

Our vision is that as this network grows, as more languages are covered, and as online communication is put to work, reaching a speaker and holding the majalis of Ahl al-Bayt — at home, as a rawda, or at an Islamic center — becomes easier for everyone.

We want distance, language and the difficulty of arranging things to stop being reasons a majlis of Ahl al-Bayt goes unheld.
